Weight

By Tyler Majer

Euphoria rises like steam
From this plate of
Mashed potatoes

Sips of diet Pepsi
Are taken
With side eye
Glances

I once thought I was beautiful

Smiles suppressed
As a hand
Reaches
Pringles potato chips

Coffee taken black
Preference
Leans toward milk

I once thought people could too

All-You-Can-Eat
Avoiding the eyes of others
Another plate

Walking out of
Clothing Stores
No bag

I smiled vibrantly once

Changing rooms
Where you left behind
Jeans, T-shirts
Hope

Food eaten
In empty rooms
With eyes closed

I laughed confidently too

Plates pile
At the foot
Of your bed

While

Tears line
The inside
Of the one thing
Without a size

I was told that size doesn’t matter

Happiness exists
People just love
To feed you

The other emotion

It does
